Smuggs Listens
Smuggs has created two programs in response to their findings. MAX5 is a new lesson program for ages 6 and up. The 2.5 hour sessions begin at 9:45 a.m. and guarantee a maximum of five people and minimum of two. "This small group equates to a maximum time for coaching and improving confidence and performance," says Sherm White, Smugglers' Snow Sport University training manager and veteran ski instructor.
Another program, Little Rascals on Snow, puts kids as young as two-and-a-half on skis, to learn in a simple progression of skills. "We want the children to enjoy putting on their boots and going outside to glide on the snow. It's such an easy way to expose kids to the ski experience, and just as soon as they've had enough we bring them inside so there's no opportunity for their first time on skis to go sour," says Shelly Schaffer, director of the child care center.
