Along with the snow has come very cold weather, meaning that the country's extensive snowmaking systems which had struggled to maintain snow over the past month because of very warm temperatures, are also able to work at capacity. Solden is a typical example, with one of the country's biggest verticals, it currently has 20cm (eight inches) of fresh snow and temperatures of –10 Celsius at village level (1377m) and 140cm (Nearly five feet) of powder up on the twin glaciers at 3000m, formerly open year round. However temperatures are as low as 20 below freezing.
