Gore received high scores in the terrain park category in the region. The ratings were based primarily on readers' average ranking, number of reviews, and specific comments made in OnTheSnow.com over the winter season.
"More and more skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices," said Mountain News President and Publisher Rob Brown, whose company publishes OnTheSnow.com. "We believe the importance of reader advisories will continue to grow each year and these annual awards provide a peek into their thinking."
Reviewers were clear in their comments about the terrain and the resort: "Short lines, long trails, challenging trails and cruisers, lower ticket price than most areas… The lifts are top notch and the staff is always happy. Great location for kids, easy access parking… It boasts everything anyone could want in a mountain; short lift lines, gentle beginner runs, long intermediate cruisers, narrow expert trails, awesome glades, crazy steeps, gorgeous views and the best grooming… Without the pretentious air of some other resorts."
State-run Gore Mountain is located at North Creek. There's a vertical drop of 2,100 and 344 skiable acres. Four new glade runs have been recently added, bringing the total number of trails to 86. The resort has 100 percent snowmaking.
