Mt. Hood Meadows heads into the holidays with fifth deepest snowpack in North America(Winter Solstice December 21, 2018 - Mt. Hood, OR) -- With a sixty-five inch mid-mountain base - the fifth deepest snowpack in North America (according to Unofficial Networks) - Mt. Hood Meadows heads into the holidays with fresh snow and a good storm cycle forecast. It’s officially winter so it is definitely going to be a White Christmas on the mountain. Updated conditions and scheduled lifts can be found at SkiHood.com. This will help plan and prepare for your day at Meadows. 1. Open Daily 9 AM - 9 PM through January 6 - except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day (lifts close at 4 PM) Mt. Hood Meadows will be open for day and night operations every day through Sunday, January 6, with just three exceptions. The ski area will operate from 9 AM - 4 PM Monday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) and Tuesday, January 1 (New Year’s Day); and lifts will run until just after midnight Sunday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve). 2. Reserve lessons and rentals online in advance Meadows holiday reservation system is inventoried so those making a reservation by noon the previous day, will be assured of having equipment or getting into adult or kids lessons. Advanced reserved equipment is pre-teched, substantially reducing time spent in the shop, bypassing the check-in and cashier and going directly to fitting boots and picking up equipment. 3. Take Park and Ride from Portland Meadows Park and Ride has three Portland pick up locations and runs daily during the Holidays (except Christmas day) dropping off right at the lodge. Purchase seats in advance online. 4. Peak Day Hood River Shuttle is FREE! The shuttle runs every day from Hood River starting Saturday, December 22 through Monday, January 1 (except Christmas Day;) as well as weekends in January and February and MLK and Presidents Day Monday holidays (1/21/19 and 2/18/19.) It picks up at the Hood River Events Site with the first shuttle departing for Meadows at 7:30 AM (and then roughly every hour through the morning after that). First come, first seated. 5. Get to HRM for Early Loads Hood River Express opens at 8:30 AM daily through Monday, January 1 (except Christmas day when it opens at 9 AM,) as well as weekends in January and February and the MLK and Presidents Day Monday holidays (1/21/19 and 2/18/19.) Snow play at Meadows includes cross country skiing, snow shoeing, sled dogs and just plain playing in the snow! 6. Nordic Center open daily It’s not all downhill at Meadows - our Nordic Center is open daily for the holidays from 9 AM - 4 PM for cross country skiing. 7. Snow Shoe tours offered December 26 - 31 Looking for other ways to play in or on the snow? Take a snow shoe tour, hike to Umbrella Falls and perhaps to Sahalie Falls - a true winter wonderland! 8. Santa is at home in the snow Santa is revving up for his big day by spending some time with us Saturday and Sunday, December 22 and 23. The kiddos can have breakfast with Santa (reservations required), spend some time with him and get him ready for his big day! 9. New Year’s Eve Celebration presented by Pfriem The lifts will run until just after midnight and Prfiem presents a great party featuring live music from Counterfeit Hits from 9 PM - until after midnight.
