A Thanksgiving holiday snowstorm dropped 20 inches of snow on Mt. Hood Meadows, allowing the resort to offer a preview weekend Saturday and Sunday. Meadows V.P. of Sales and Marketing Dave Tragethon says, "We have so many things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The storm was a gift - arriving on Thanksgiving day, giving us twenty inches of freshness, that blanketed our slopes and made a fragile, yet beautiful snowpack. Harvested snow filled in the thin spots and was used to build the loading / unloading ramps at Buttercup, Easy Rider and Daisy."

The Ballroom Carpet and Fun Zone was filled with families, kids and some new explorers taking advantage of the preview day to start their winter adventures. Meadows Learning Center offered ski and snowboard lessons Sunday - and the soft-packed snow and coverage we have throughout the beginner area makes it perfect for those new to the sport.

The snowpack extended to some intermediate level terrain on the “South pod” perfect for making early season turns on. The Zoo had seven features and the Preview Park at Shipyard had eleven features.

Just as the weekend was an awesome way for us to preview the season, we look forward to getting the season under way soon!
