The pattern over the next seven days is dominated by an active jet stream supporting two large storm systems, with one on each coast.

California: One large storm system keeps the snow accumulating on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Heavy snow accumulation likely at the Lake Tahoe ski areas and Mammoth. 1-3 feet of total accumulation by Sunday morning, then it turns drier until midweek. It should be great skiing at Kirkwood, Heavenly and Mammoth on Saturday and Sunday.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho: One large storm system will keep the snow chances high on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Snow will come in waves and there may be times when snow completely stops. Snow accumulation looks moderate to heavy at the ski areas. The best snow accumulates at Schweitzer, Whitefish and Sun Valley on Thursday and Friday. The best snow accumulates at Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Brundage and Grand Targhee on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Northeast: One large storm system is likely between Thursday afternoon and Friday night. Heavy snow accumulation is possible at inland ski areas in New York state, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and possibly southern Maine. Where the heaviest snow band sets up will be determined by the exact track of the storm system. Conditions turn tranquil for the weekend with another storm possible by Tuesday afternoon.

Colorado, Utah: A brief flash of snow is possible Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Then a larger storm system hits Utah first by Friday midday into Sunday morning. Heavy snow accumulation at Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, Snowbasin and Park City. In Colorado, moderate to heavy snow accumulation is possible on Sunday at Aspen, Snowmass, Telluride, Steamboat, Vail and Loveland. Lingering snow showers on Monday, then it turns tranquil until midweek.

Pacific Northwest: One large storm system keeps the precipitation going on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The bulk of the mountain/volcano snow occurs on Thursday and Friday with lighter amounts over the weekend.

Whistler/Blackcomb: One large storm system keeps the snow falling on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The bulk of the snow accumulates on Thursday with much lighter amounts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Tomer's Take: Ski Tahoe or Mammoth on Friday, the Northeast on Saturday at Mount Snow, Jiminy Peak or Catamount and on Sunday ski Alta, Snowbird or Jackson Hole
