An exciting new adventure awaits at Copper Mountain Resort as the anticipated Rocky Mountain Coaster opens to the public on Friday, Dec. 1. With an overall length of 5,800 feet and a vertical drop of 430 feet, the raised alpine coaster track runs along the natural curvature of the mountain with zigs, zags, dips and 360 degree turns for guaranteed thrills all the way down to Copper’s high alpine Center Village.

“The Rocky Mountain Coaster is an ideal year-round attraction for just about everyone,” said Gary Rodgers, Copper Mountain’s president and general manager. “We hope to see grandparents going down with their grandkids and the kids-at-heart taking a ride with their friends and family.”

Adrenaline seekers are guaranteed to get their fix in winter and summer as the Rocky Mountain Coaster, created by the Aquatic Development Group, features an average 11 percent downhill grade allowing the carts to reach a max speed of 25 mph. For those seeking a mellow meander through the forest, the cart’s manual hand brakes give riders the freedom to go at their own pace. To access the coaster, guests can simply walk towards the American Flyer lift in Copper’s Center Village.

The Rocky Mountain Coaster will open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1 and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, weather-permitting. Visitors and locals who are at least 9 years of age and a minimum of 52” in height are invited to take a ride solo for $25. A two-ride pass can also be purchased for $35. Passholders of Copper Mountain Resort, the Copper 4-Pack or Rocky Mountain Super Pass+ receive an exclusive discount of $5 off of a single ride plus one additional $20 ride for friends or family. Children between the ages of 3 and 8 who are at least 36” tall may ride as a passenger with someone 16 or older.
