There are two storm systems lined up for parts of the West over the next five days, but warm temperatures will threaten to mix the snow with rain at many ski areas initially. In the Northeast, I'm only forecasting light snow accumulations over the next five days.

California: The first storm system largely misses Tahoe and Mammoth to the north. The second storm system is more of a direct hit arriving late Saturday and continuing on Sunday and Monday. Precipitation may start as a rain/snow mix in Tahoe then changes over to snow. Accumulations look heavy.

Whistler/Blackcomb: The moisture feed continues, but abnormally warm temperatures will force the precipitation to fall as rain on Thursday then over to snow on Friday. The second storm system is a little colder between Saturday and Monday with heavy snow accumulations.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho: Two different storm systems are lined up over the next five days. But, abnormally warm temperatures on Thursday may turn the precipitation over to rain at the ski areas before turning back to snow on Friday. The second storm arrives on Sunday-Monday with slightly colder temperatures. Accumulations look light with the first storm and moderate to heavy with the second storm.

Pacific Northwest: There are two storm systems lined up over the next five days. But, abnormally warm temperatures may force the precipitation over to rain with the first storm system on Thursday then changing over to snow by Friday. There might not be much a break in the precipitation between the two storm systems. The second storm appears slightly colder with more snow accumulation Sunday-Monday.

Colorado, Utah: The jet stream is tracking north of both states through the weekend. That means mostly dry and abnormally warm conditions. A surge of high wind and a few snow showers slide through on Friday but that's it until Monday-Tuesday.

Northeast: I'm not forecasting any large snowstorms over the next five days. However, there are two chances for light snowfall on Thursday night-Friday and Saturday night-Sunday.

Tomer's Take: Consider Whistler/Blackcomb or Jackson Hole on Friday, Steamboat or Winter Park on Saturday, Schweitzer or Whistler/Blackcomb on Sunday, and Tahoe on Monday.
