Whiteface is getting a facelift this summer, and we're here to give you the scoop! Governor Cuomo announced this spring that the New York State Budget includes $20 million to enhance the current facilities at Whiteface and Gore and create state-of-the-art skiing, lodging, dining, and retail opportunities and year-round activities. These projects will be the first major upgrade at both Whiteface and Gore in 30 years!

Main Base Lodge

So what does this mean for all of our dedicated skiers and riders and year-round visitors? We've got a couple of things in the works already, which are scheduled to be completed by the 2017-2018 ski season. This summer, we'll be renovating the Main Base Lodge stairway and installing an elevator to improve accessibility and traffic flow. Additional bathrooms will be installed in the Base Lodge on the second level across from J.LOHR. We'll also be remodeling the interior and exterior of the Cloudspin Bar and Grill, but don't worry—our famous Bloody Marys aren't going anywhere. Check out the initial renderings for this project in the gallery below...pretty exciting stuff!

Bear Den Lodge

We've committed to growing our learn to ski facilities and programs with an expansion of the Bear Den Lodge, much of which will be completed by the 2017-2018 ski season. The expansion includes the addition of a lounge adjacent to the current Black Bear Café with a bird's eye view of the slopes, where parents can relax and watch their budding powder hounds learn to ski and ride.

Snowmaking & Grooming Upgrades

Corduroy lovers rejoice—we're getting a new snow cat for this upcoming season! We'll also be making upgrades to our main pump house, which will be the foundation for significant snowmaking upgrades at the mountain. Up at the Summit, we'll continue the Castle and roundhouse work for our summer Memorial Highway visitors, and the elevator will also be replaced at the end of this summer to be ready for the following spring in 2018.
