It's going to be a snowy five-day period for the West, with a favorable jet stream position. Some of that snow tracks Northeast into New England. I'm forecasting at least two feet of new snow in a few a different zones across the West.

Colorado, Utah: This is going to be a snowy five-day stretch. In Colorado, snow may fall every day starting Thursday afternoon. The heaviest snow will fall in the Central and Northern Mountains each day, including Steamboat, Buffalo Pass, Vail, Aspen, Snowmass, Copper Mountain and Winter Park. Two feet of total snow accumulation is possible over the five-day period. In Utah, the heaviest snow occurs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. One to two feet of total accumulation. Alta, Snowbird, Snowbasin and Park City are all in good position.

Wyoming, Idaho, Montana: Multi-day snow on the way. Starting Thursday afternoon, I expect snow each day through Monday. Two feet of accumulation appears likely at Sun Valley, Big Sky, Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee. Moderate accumulations at Bridger Bowl, Whitefish and Schweitzer through the weekend.

California: Snow returns! The heaviest snow occurs above 8,000 feet on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A rain/snow mix possible at or below 8,000 feet at times. Tahoe and Mammoth are in great position. One to two feet of total accumulation over the next five days.

Pacific Northwest: Moderate to heavy snow is likely on the high Cascades and volcanoes on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Whistler/Blackcomb: Compared to previous weeks, not as much snow will fall over the next five days. I do expect moderate snow accumulations on Friday and Sunday.

Northeast: Light to moderate snow hits the ski areas on Friday. Light snow on Saturday. A more potent storm is possible on Sunday and Monday with moderate to heavy snow accumulations. Mount Snow, Killington, Stratton, Okemo, Sunday River, Catamount and Jiminy Peak are in good position.
