Fountain Outdoor Recreation Corporation, a female-owned small business, purchased the ski area lease this fall and renamed the hill to recognize the area's trophy elk hunting. With 600 feet of vertical, the ski area located near the southwestern entrance to Grand Canyon has not announced an opening date to run its two-lift ski and snowboard operation. That date is pending adequate snowfall. However, the resort plans to open its tubing hill on January 5. The day lodge has also been renovated to include a new snack bar, kitchen, and dining facilities.
