Nothing harkens back to the wonderment of childhood like lying under a dark sky and cooing at falling stars. With camping season upon us it’s the perfect time to synch up with the cosmos and ensure you’re pitching a tent under optimal starlight.

Summer 2016 is shaping up to be a busy one, not only in a galaxy far far away (see Aquarids and Perseid meteor showers), but also in many of the country’s National Parks. The National Parks Service is great at promoting dark skies, from ranger-led programs, constellation tours, telescope viewings and full-scale festivals complete with live music and more. Whether you’re an astronomy buff, a photographer or just a big kid wanting to feel young again, roll out your sleeping bag, grab a s’more and check out this season’s brightest celestial events.
