Want to ski two states in one day? You can at [R217R, Lost Trail] and [R215R, Lookout Pass]. Both ski resorts straddle the borders of Montana and Idaho.
Lost Trail Powder Mountain, which sits where US 93 crosses Lost Trail Pass at 6,995 feet, heaps more of its runs, its day lodge, and its parking lot in Montana. Those who want to dip into Idaho can do so by catching Chair 1 up to a 7,800-foot knoll.
Runs of all levels cruise down the 1,200-foot descent into Idaho. Beginners can ski Meadow Run, while advanced skiers can swing down Moose Creek or bee-line down Thunder. From the bottom, Chair 2 carries skiers and riders from Idaho back up where they can access Montana runs on the Huckleberry and Saddle Mountain lifts. Call 406- 821-3211 for more information about skiing and riding at Lost Trail.
Lookout Pass, which sits at the top of Interstate 90 at 4,710 feet, places more of its ski hill in Idaho. Chair 1 accessing the front side and the North Star Chair fall in Idaho, but Timber Wolf lift explores Montana terrain.
Most of the Montana runs are intermediate and advanced runs. Rainbow Ridge circles down the longest route while Sundance and Buffalo Gulch drop in a direct descent. Call 208-744-1301 for more information about skiing and riding at Lookout Pass.
