Cutting-Edge Terrain At Old Heartland Resort
While Chestnut Mountain may be one of the Heartland's older resorts – serving skiers for over 40 years – its terrain is some of the most cutting-edge, mid-continent. Riders and twintippers enjoy the huge seven-acre Farside Terrain Park, complete with its own chairlift. It features halfpipes, quarterpipes, tabletops, over 25 rails, and that's not all. There's also a large rail-garden atop the ski hill next to the hotel; it offers more than 20 combinations of hits and levels.
Of course, there are plenty of traditional trails that meander off the tall rocky bluff down to the scenic Mississippi River. Chestnut is one of the lower Midwest's largest snowsports resorts with a vertical drop of just below 500 feet.
