Seven Springs, Eight Inches
"It's great out there," said Mountain rep Bob Duppstadt. "It's cold, but we have powder, groomed powder and the sun is starting to shine through."
Mountain temps hit low single digits Thursday night, rising to nine degrees at around noon on Friday, keeping snow light and fluffy. It is expected to be in the low 30s on Saturday with flurries and wintry weather predicted into next week.
"Every day has been great," related Duppstadt of the mountain's extended cold snap. "There's a lot of pent up energy with skiers and boarders who haven't made it up to the mountain yet… They're chomping at the bit to get out here."
New for this year at Seven Springs is The Spot, an advanced terrain park and 18' super-pipe. While the super-pipe is not open yet, the mountain hopes to have it ready by early next week.
The Spot is the third park at Seven Springs and its most ambitious. With Santa's Beard park for beginners, North Face park for intermediates and The Spot for experts, there's something for all levels of aspiring hucksters.
