More than 238 km of pistes and 43 lifts at the Silvretta Arena run up to 3,000 m altitude and down to the Swiss tax haven of Samnaun. Events such as the snow sculpture competition with international artists, the legendary ‘Sterne Cup’ chefs’ cup and the Gastronomy World Championships are fixed events on the Ischgl events calendar, in addition to the Top of the Mountain concerts. The winter season in Ischgl starts with the Festival Opening Week on 23. November 2012. The Highlight of this week is the Top of the Mountain Opening Concert on 1. December 2012. The season ends with the legendary Top of the Mountain Concert on 30. April 2012. The “Volkswagen Mountain Move Week” 01.-07.04.2013 is a further Highlight in the winter season of Ischgl.

New in Ischgl: attractive expansion of the restaurants Höllboden and Alp Trida Sattel

This summer the Höllboden restaurant on the mountain is being re-styled. There will be a new entrance with two escalators, alterations in the restaurant, new toilets and a smart new bar with smoking corner.With the new facade of glass, wood and the local stone – called Vider –  the restaurant will have a stylish new look.

During this summer the Panorama restaurant at Alp Trida Sattel is being re-developed. The restaurant (which has self-service and table service) and the toilets are being renovated and will include disabled facilities.

A new service restaurant with large terraces (facing south and west) is being added. This restaurant will also be available for special occasions, for example for weddings and seminars. In addition, on the west side, there will be an attractive split-level bar, for non-smokers and smokers. The building is being thermally reconstructed and will use solar energy.

The winter sports enthusiasts will also find in this winter a fascinating white blanket of snow. The Silvrettaseilbahn AG and the mountain railways Samnaun AG again invested heavily in the expansion of artificial snow.

Free skiing experience in the Silvretta Arena

From the end of November to the start of May, the Silvretta Arena guarantees the ideal winter sport conditions for snow-seekers and party-goers which extend far beyond the local borders: with the joint ski pass for Ischgl, Austria and the Samnaun tax haven in Switzerland, the Silvretta Arena offers a high-altitude winter sports paradise with guaranteed snow, extending over 238 km of pistes. These include 45 km of black, 127 km of red and 38 km of blue pistes. 43 comfortable lifts and mountain railways transport winter sports fans up to a high altitude.

Some 900 snow canons and lances are in use in Ischgl. This creates the perfect conditions and guarantees ideal winter sports facilities from the very first day of the season. This includes the ‘eleven’, one of the sporting highlights of Ischgl: the 11 km long descent runs from the Greitspitz at 2,900 m down into the valley at 1,400 m. For those who prefer an off-piste and free-styling adventure, there are 12 km of ski routes and numerous types of descents to explore covered with deep untouched snow.

PlayStation® Vita Ischgl Snowpark

The PlayStation® Vita Ischgl Snowpark is one of the longest continuous terrain parks in the Alps. Covering a park area of 160,000 m, making it an XXL snow park, this is one of the biggest in Europe. Here there are no fewer than 66 jumps including 30 rookie, 24 public and 12 professional jumps. The longest pro line is around 2 km and incorporates 19 hits. The public line includes 21 hits at 1,750 m. Particularly spectacular is the large air cushion behind the last kicker on the Idalp. Here, you can practise new tricks and jumps in complete safety and with no risk of falling.

The famous Ischgl ski huts, restaurants and sun terraces offer a relaxed atmosphere from cosy and relaxed to action-packed with a party atmosphere. The exclusive Restaurant Alpenhaus on the Idalpe, the futuristic Salaas at the Greitspitzbahn valley station and the Restaurant Padorama impress with their elegant, avant-garde Alpine architecture: a sun terrace and recliners before a mountain backdrop outside, a stylish restaurant and ski bar inside.
