[R117R, Courchevel] is hosting a number of springtime activities on and off the slopes, including firework displays, film premiers, and ski races and rallies.

Courchevel created the first ever International Pyrotechnic Art Festival in March 2003. It has become an annual tradition featuring spectacular firework competitions where several specialist pyrotechnic companies compete to light up the sky against a backdrop of snow and pine trees. This year, the festival takes place between Feb. 26 and March 6.

The popular Festival Cineski returns to Courchevel March 12 to 15. Visitors can hang up their skis and spend an evening in the Auditorium Gilles de la Rocque at Courchevel 1850, to discover five new films in exclusive previews.

Those aged 18 and over can take part in the Roc Merlet Derby race April 4. This derby-style race with a mass start is open to both skiers and snowboarders. It takes place at Courchevel 1650. Helmets are compulsory for all.

The X Wing Rally April 13 offers the chance for skiers and snowboarders to team up in groups of three and discover the obstacle-laden ski area of the Three Valleys.

Courchevel is enjoying a snow-packed season so far. It last snowed 5cm on January 22, offering plenty of fresh snow on piste and a powder-packed off piste. The upper slopes now have 97cm of snow (2738 metres) while the lower slopes have 81cm (1850 metres).
