As a reward for their dedication to bringing excellence to the services offered by Kvitfjell the three were allowed to be the very first on the slopes when the resort opened this month.

First in the resort eight years ago was Englishman Scott Hammond, originally from South East London, who has now racked up 21 ski seasons in total, previously spending nine 9 years in Verbier and four in Cervinia.

Scott now runs Kvitfjell Ski Shop situated on the west side of the mountain - a unique concept of ski shop, rental and bar all in one. He also works in the ski school in Alpine and Telemark disciplines, the latter being his speciality.

Scott is part of the Norwegian Telemark Demonstration Team and is currently training for his ISIA international badge in both Alpine and Telemark disciplines. He met his now wife Wenche (Venke) while travelling and they lived together in Verbier for five years before moving back to Lillehammer where Wenhe is from. With his qualifications and love of skiing, Kvitfjell was the obvious place to look for work.

Scott was joined last season by Scotsman Greig McColm and fellow Londoner Morgan Lewis. Greig is an extreme kayaker by heart and can be found paddling the most intense waters around Norway in the summer and skiing all winter.

Having come to Norway to Kayak and needed something to do in the winters, Greig works in one or the other of Kvitfjell´s two excellent sport shops.

When not working you'll often find Greig out there in the trees or out on piste cutting tracks with the best of them. He had learned to ski in Austria where he had done a season in between kayaking there but found a place to settle in Sjoa with his girlfriend Live (Liv-e)

Morgan has skied all over Europe with 23 seasons under his belt (Including periods in Austria, the Dolomites, Tignes, four seasons in Voss with the British Military and two years now in Kvitfjell). He works in the resort's ski school and is an ISIA qualified ski teacher and level two race coach, as well as a qualified ski technician.

Morgan, who is proficient in all snow sliding disciplines is in charge of quality control at the ski school and runs a mandatory staff training session once a week for his ski instructors to maintain and push the level of all instructors. This helps Kvitfjell Ski School offer the best quality of lesson at all levels be it for jibbing, race, telemark or beginners.

Morgan's father has been living in Norway for many years and he has been a regular visitor since he was a small child. He decided to give Kvitfjell a go and liked it so much that he bought a house, where he now lives with his girlfriend Anne Grethe (Greta).

On the slopes it's easy to see why the three men fell for Kvitfjell. The centre was host to the men's downhill for the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer and the Super G was also staged here. There are also wonderful views of the Gudbrandsdal Valley.
