[R129R, Deer Valley Resort] and [R314R, Park City Mountain Resort] will welcome the world's top freestyle athletes for the Visa Freestyle International World Cup, and FIS event, Jan. 29-31.

The competition is a prelude to the 2011 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, also scheduled for Utah, and features the best skiers in the world.

Moguls Olympic silver medalist Shannon Bahrke, world-record holder for highest aerials score, Jeret "Speedy" Peterson, and two-time halpipe XGames medalist Jen Hudak all plan to attend.

"It's important to continue honing our event management skills to their very best," said Deer Valley President Bob Wheaton about Deer Valley's continued support of freestyle skiing. "With 2011 in our sights, we really want to shine."

The resort has hosted seven World Cups (2000, 2001, 2004-2008) and the 2002 Olympic Winter Games freestyle events, the 2003 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, and the U.S. Freestyle Champs in 1999 and 2008.

Deer Valley will have the aerial, moguls, and dual moguls on the lower half of the mountain (Bald Eagle Mountain) while Park City Mountain Resort's Eagle Superpipe will support the halfpipe skiers.

As the site for the 2002 Games and the World Superpipe Championships for the last six years, "PCMR's the perfect venue to host America's first World Cup skier halfpipe competition," said Peter Curtis, president and general manager of PCMR.

Approximately, 300 elite athletes are expected to compete over the three-day period. Festivities kick off on Main Street, Park City, with live entertainment by Michael Franti and Spearhead followed by fireworks.

The aerials and dual moguls will be nightlit and highlighted with fireworks. General admission is free, so come out and support the U.S. team. For those who don't like standing in the cold, purchase VIP Festival Feast tickets. You'll get a lunch/dinner in the VIP tent and a commemorative gift. A schedule of events is available online.
