The [R456R, Telluride] Adaptive Sports Program is gearing up to host the annual Expand Your Horizons ski camp for intermediate and advanced skiers and riders with physical disabilities Feb. 2-5 at Telluride resort.

The camp, which has been run every winter since 2001, has opened new doors for a number of disabled athletes, allowing them to explore alternative techniques, ski/ride diverse terrain, try new activities (racing, bumps, powder), learn from video feedback, and share the experience.

Among the events scheduled for the ninth go-round of the Expand Your Horizons camp is four days of advanced-level alpine instruction with representatives from the U.S. Paralympic Alpine Ski Team, video analysis and one-on-one feedback, a mid-camp Level 1 race, and a dinner with motivational speaker Jeff Evans (the sighted guide for blind mountaineer and competitive skier Erik Weihenmayer), who will present his new film "Blindsight."

The camp costs $800 and covers lodging (double occupancy), lift tickets, coaching, video analysis, après-ski events and most meals. A limited number of scholarships is available; contact Telluride Adaptive Sports Program for applications. The camp is limited to 20 participants so advance registration is a must.

Alpine ski and snowboard rentals are included in camp fee and adaptive equipment is available for rent with advance notice.
