Big time snow in store for the Pac Northwest and the Northern Rockies, things slow down a bit in the Midwest and a slight breather for the Northeast. RC

A strong system enters the Pac Northwest today, bringing snow for the Cascades and the Northern Rockies, along with heavy rains for the lower elevations. The heaviest of the rainfall should occur along the Oregon coast and Northwest California. Look for temps to be on the uptick this week, staying above average for most of the week. Highs from the mid teens in the upper elevations to the mid 50's in the lower elevations.

The region gets a break today, minus wind gusts. Aside from a slight chance of snow showers in western New York and Northwest PA, things should stay dry. Another system is due in by evening and another significant event should arrive by Wednesday. Highs in the region from the mid 20's in Maine to the mid 50's in West Virginia.

Outside of some light snowfall for the northern portions of the Midwest states, things should be cool and quiet today. In the northern states, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan could see an inch of snow. This break is a short one, as another system bringing heavy snowfall is due in Tuesday. Flood warnings also continue today for Michigan and Wisconsin.
