The [R48R, Big Sky Resort] Snowsports School beefed up their programs this winter by adding two new camps for skiers. One targets women, and the other is aimed at telemark skiers.
"A lot of our returning clients from New York or Alabama, for instance, look for something to schedule their vacation around," Troy Nedved, Director of the Snowsports School, explained to OnTheSnow.com. "We're hoping to have people who are from local, regional, and national areas. I think it will truly be a mixture of all three."
The new Women's Camp taught by women runs Jan. 22-24. "Women camps tend to be pretty popular," said Nedved, "and we've gotten requests for them.
"In average group lessons, women may have different priorities for improvement," continued Nedved. "Women's biomechanics are different, so instructors can address women-specific issues and learning patterns that are truly unique to them."
The Telemark Camp is scheduled for Jan. 15-17. "We don't have a high volume of telemark skiers, so group lessons are so infrequent," said Nedved. "The camp will consolidate enough telemarkers to have lessons to meet their needs."
Both camps include three days of guiding and individualized instruction from PSIA-certified instructors, three days of lift tickets, a welcome reception, one evening indoor session, and free entrance to the Snowbar on the final evening. Group sizes are limited to 3-7 skiers.
Both camps are designed for blue run skiers looking to make the leap off groomed runs and expert skiers yearning to explore terrain off Lone Peak. The cost for each camp is $517. Call (406) 995-5743 to reach Big Sky's Snowsports School to make reservations.
