The first rail jam of winter swarms in on [R113R, Copper Mountain] with the 7th Annual Leftover Yam and Jive Turkey Jam Friday, Nov. 28, 2008. The jib event is open and is free to both professional and amateur skiers and riders. Compete for a chance to win great prizes. Registration is available only online at Copper's Web site.

The event will take place in the Eagle Jib Park. Helmets and lift tickets are required. Renew your Four Pass to Copper for $139. That's four days of skiing and snowboarding, free cat skiing and free parking, valid anytime except Dec. 27-31. Call (866) 416-9869.

If you'd like to keep your feet on the ground, grab your snowshoes and walk, trot, or run in Copper's 5th Annual Gobbler Chase, Nov. 29. The race benefits Advocates for Victims of Assault. Register online at the Village at Copper Web site. There will be Thanksgiving treats and prizes following the race. Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend "Copper style" later that day.

Santa and his elves will skydive into the village to light the Copper holiday tree; there will be a torchlight parade, street entertainers, bonfires, fire performers, and the fireworks finale. Get there early to catch En Fuego heating up the plaza from 6-8 p.m.
