Topping-off at Stowe
Topping-off celebrations date back to European traditions from centuries ago. In today's version dignitaries, condo owners and tradespeople working on the building will gather to sign the final beam as it is placed on top of the building. An American flag and a small evergreen tree placed on that beam will complete the ceremony. Placing a tree on the final beam has become a tradition in the construction industry signifying a successful job and future good luck for the building and its occupants.
Stowe Mountain Lodge is being billed as the first true luxury resort hotel to open in New England in 50 years. A fall 2007 opening is projected for the 139 room Lodge which will provide ski in/ski out access to the slopes.
