The Spud Drive-in located in Teton Valley is usually closed this time of year. But it opens for one night Friday, Nov. 21 for a giant [R157R, Grand Targhee] party. The party features a premiere showing of Teton Gravity Research's latest film, Under the Influence.

TGR filmed a segment of the movie at Grand Targhee after the closing of the season last spring. Resort cats built 70- and 80-foot gap jumps on Rock Chuck just below the north face of Peaked Mountain for world-class freeriders to launch air. "The athletes are the best of the best in the freeride world," David Hudacsko, PR manager for Targhee and long time TGR employee, told

"In the 15 year history of the TGR, it's the first time a TGR movie has ever been shown at a drive-in," Hudacsko continued, noting that athletes like Dash Long and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa are joining the movie premiere bash. "There's a potential for a special appearance by the machine that built the jumps, too," Hudacsko added.

The drive-in premiere bash includes fireworks, food from the Spud Drive-in grill and Big Hole BBQ, and Wildlife Brewery and Widmer Brothers drinks from the Knotty Pine. An after party with live music continues at the Knotty Pine in Victor.

The premiere party is all to celebrate Grand Targhee's opening the next day Nov. 22. "We're not selling rocket science, just a good time," laughed Hudacsko.
