Calling All Filmmakers. November 20th is the entry deadline for this year's X-Dance Film Festival.

Last year was a breakthrough year for X-Dance, the action sports film festival in Utah that initially rode the coattails of the Sundance Film Festival in [R314R, Park City]. X-Dance organizers moved the event to Salt Lake City to accommodate the record attendance in a bigger theater.  Some of the top filmmakers use X-Dance to launch and premier their films to the world and the industry.  Travis Pastranna, Tony Hawk, Tara Dakides, and all the Bra Boys (all the way from Australia), were in attendance and most of them had their "World Premier" at X-Dance!

Over 200 entries from all over the world were narrowed down to 40 films.  The film "199 Lives" (Dir. Greg Godfrey, Studio 411 Productions) took top prize of "Best Film".  "Bra Boys" won "Best Documentary", John Decesare won "Best Director" for "The Windsurfing Movie", and the "Emerging Filmmaker Award" went to Britton Cailloutte for "Sliding Liberia" (check out all the winners on the X-Dance Web site). Two films were picked up for theatrical distribution and several of the other filmmakers were signed on for major distribution. â€¨If you ever thought you had a knack for storytelling with your helmet cam or that 35mm, go to the site to enter. Almost everything you need to know is therre, including contact info and online entry fee payment.

The filmmaker or some other representatives (Athlete, Producer, etc.) directly involved in the making of the film must be in attendance at this year's event (Jan.16-21).  If you don't have a film, you may know friends and colleagues that do. Spread the word. Then come out in January to watch some hot action films in-between turns at Utah's resorts.
