Soup's on again for the tastiest winter event in Midway, Utah. The 8th Annual Soup and Soldier Hollow Fundraiser pours into the Soldier Hollow warming hut on Friday evening, Nov.14. Area restaurants bring in tureens of yummy homemade soups like Vegetarian Mushroom Rice, Cream of Onion, Broccoli Chicken Alfredo, Black Bean, Wisconsin Beer Cheese, and Pumpkin for an all-you-can slurp event.

Let the food digest while watching patrons bid hundreds of dollars in support of Soldier Hollows junior programs. Silent auction items include golf and ski packages, a night in a Teepee, a VIP package for the Soldier Hollow Sheepdog Championships, tubing parties, lodging packages, U.S. Ski Team apparel, a 2010 Vancouver Olympic jacket, and Rossignol equipment and clothing. Get your tickets now for [R403R, Snowbasin]'s Annual Snowdance and Auction, Nov. 22, 2008. The elegant evening of entertainment and fine dining held at Earl's Lodge has become the token kick-off to the ski season.  Silent and live auctions, music from local favorites Shades of Gray, the always delicious fare from Snowbasin's renowned kitchen, and award-winning programs and speakers combine for what is always a memorable evening.

This year's guest speaker is Phil Mahre, arguably among the greatest  ski racers of all time, who's currently attempting a comeback. Mahre won three consecutive Overall World Cup Championships, six total World Cup Championships, gold and silver Olympic medals, and gold and silver FIS World Championship medals.  He also had the most total wins in World Cup competition by a U.S. skier until Bode Miller passed him during the 2007-08 season.  Mahre has re-joined the international ski racing circuit at the age of 51.
