The popular Girlski Tours return this winter at both Island Lake Lodge and Powder Cowboy Catskiing in response to the demand for women-only adventures.

"After rave reviews from last year's sold out Girlski Tours, we are excited to be offering three Girlski tours this winter," said Kirsten Knechtel, lead guide and operations manger at Powder Cowboy Catskiing.

Girlski tours were developed to lure more women into backcountry powder skiing. All-inclusive tours make it easy. The programs include the use of women-specific powder skis or snowboards, deluxe accommodations, yoga, gourmet food, and lots of powder skiing. Both operations also offer spa treatments, an eclectic wine list, and outdoor hot tubs.

The Girlski tours are led by female ACMG-certified guides, and female cat drivers-both which helps to foster a supportive, non-competitive, fun environment.

"Ninety percent of our clients are men, and when I go out there and ski with them, it's great, but I can't help but wonder why more women don't come out and do this? It is incredibly fun and really exciting, and you don't have to be an expert," said Sandra DaCosta, Powder Cowboy's lodge manager.

The four-day Island Lake Lodge Girlski is scheduled Jan. 4-8, 2009, with a choice of which lodge to stay in - Red Eagle lodge for $3,572, or Cedar and Tamarack lodges for $3,948. The three-day Powder Cowboy Girlski tours run Jan. 11-14, 2009 for $2,250 and Mar. 8-11 for $1,875. Rates at both locations are before taxes. Call (888) 422-8754 for reservations.
