GrandValira Keeps Busy Through the Flurries
Snow depths are adequate of most runs with a foot of snow on lower runs and 20 inches on the top, but these remain at about a third of the resort's average snow depth for this time in the season.
Excellent management of the slopes has allowed the resort to keep operating and keep busy throughout this difficult snow season in Andorra. A full events calendar has been largely maintained with the Rookie Open scheduled for next Saturday 10th March at the Grau Roig base. It's the second year of running this event for under 19 year old free-skiers only. The format will be the same as the previous edition whereby, after two rounds held on the lower part of the Grau Roig Slope Style run, the fresh new talent will aspire to be crowned as Rookie of the year. The combination of rails, boxes and kickers will mean that candidates for the title will have to shine in each of the rounds and as such, the winner will require maximum skills to ride all the different modules.
