Party On and Off-Slope at Timberline
While it might not be as warm as New Orleans, the action will heat up at the Fireside Grill and Timber's Pub on the upper floor of the ski lodge. And there's no cover to soak up the sounds of several bands playing the Mardi Gras shindig from 4 p.m. till 2 a.m. both nights.
Ski or ride all day then kick-off the festivities at the Fireside Grill where they'll be serving New Orleans/Mobile style Creole/Cajun specials. Though there will be a convivial vibe hovering over the mountain all weekend, do yourself a favor and save the imbibing till after you get off the trails.
For those interested in on the slope activities, don't miss the Telemark Festival 2007 also going on this weekend.
First time free-heelers can receive personalized instruction on telemark techniques while the more ambitious can take part in the backcountry race, classic telemark race, Nordic costume competition and telemark freestyle games in the terrain park. On and off-piste workshops will also be offered.
On Sunday Timberline will crown a Nordic King and Queen based on number of competitions won. Afterwards, join the Mardi Gras revelers for the cajun-style celebration.
Registration for the Telemark Festival is from 8 to 9 a.m. on Saturday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sundy.
