Resorts in this article: Peek'n Peak, Windham Mountain, Whiteface Mountain Resort
Right now, across the state, riding conditions are at their peak. The powder keeps coming and the trails are staying open. And the ski areas are giving back to the riders.
Take Belleayre Mountain. The state-run resort is ponying up customer appreciation day on Friday, so take the time to pat yourself on the back (careful with that pole) and scarf $15 lift tickets.
Meanwhile, Whiteface, still loading up on natural snow, goes pro with the World Cup snowboard competition that started Wednesday and goes straight through Sunday.
Cockaigne gets into the coming season a bit early this weekend with its annual Spring Fling event, with fun stuff on tap for Saturday and Sunday.
Holiday Mountain has skier appreciation weekend, with 50 percent off of lift tickets and rentals. What's not to like about that?
The stunning Holiday Valley gets its crazy on with the Winter Carnival this weekend. Haven't been to Ellicottville? You're in for a magical treat.
Plattekill Mountain revs it up this weekend for the boardercross and skiercross finals of the USASA Catskill Mountain Snowboard and Freestyle Ski Series.
Windham cuts loose Saturday night in (tearful?) celebration of the last night of night riding with the Last Night Big Air event. On Sunday, the Catskill Mountain Series competition continues with giant slalom and halfpipe events.
Over at Peek'n Peak, the Habitat for Humanity slopestyle event is fun for a cause. The three-buck entry fee for the snowboarders-only competition goes to Habitat. Prizes go to the winners on the slopes.
