Arapahoe Basin Opens First
The Oct. 10 opening is A-Basin's earliest opening in its 61 years of operation. It's the first resort in the country to open first for the second year in a row. A-Basin officials made the decision based on a few weeks of solid snowmaking, supplemented by a couple of inches of snow from some storms that just blew through Summit County.
The run that will be open is the High Noon run, which is an intermediate run. There is no beginner skiing available at this time. There also will be a few features for tricks in the High Divide terrain park.
A-Basin's opening is a media event, with live camera crews from Denver lining up the A-Basin "Beach." The staff at the resort expects several hundred skiers for opening day.
