Rider Killed in Avalanche Off of Crystal
The avalanche occurred while the rider and a companion were in an area roped off and marked as permanently closed to skiing, said Tiana Enger, a representative for the ski resort.
The rider was reportedly wearing a transceiver that helped rescuers find him, however, he could not be revived after searchers dug him from the snow. The second skier was not hurt.
