Cataloochee Primed for Presidents Day
Thanks to a new automated snow-making system, the Maggie Valley resort has been blowing snow whenever possible and the mountain is currently 100 percent skiable.
Weekend temperatures will be in the 30s during the day and down into the teens at night keeping things crisp, but not frigid.
The mountain expects a large turn-out over the holiday and Brown said skiers and riders will enjoy fabled, "clear Cataloochee blue skies."
While Cataloochee's trail map denotes only one terrain park, Brown said that a mini-park and half-pipe are now open at the top of Easy Way for those looking for a tune-up before hitting the big-boy Cat Cage Terrain Park.
And though the Presidents commemorated this weekend may not have been snow-sports enthusiasts, Cataloochee will honor their memory with additional night skiing on Sunday and extended tubing hours on Monday. Cheers George!
