Resorts in this article: Bear Creek Mountain Resort, Blue Knob, Seven Springs, Shawnee Mountain Ski Area
Bear Creek hosts a "Sacrifice to the Snow Gods" party Friday, tossing some sacrificial planks onto the pyre in hope of a turnaround. Bear Creek opened three of its 22 trails Dec. 14, but closed four days later because the cold weather didn't stick around and it was too warm to make snow.
Other areas are also feeling the pain.
At Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion only nine of 32 trails are open and they've got about 10 inches to play on. Blue Knob Ski Resort in Blair County had hoped to open Tuesday, but they've postponed that until snowmaking conditions prevail.
Only three of the 28 slopes and trails at Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort in southwestern Pennsylvania are open and Shawnee Mountain Ski Area in the Poconos isn't doing much better, with five of 23 slopes and trails open.
