Slopeside At Vail
We recently visited Vail and stayed at the Lodge At Vail, a long-time Vail landmark in the heart of town, at the base of the mountain. We were there dressed for a soccer tournament while at the same time a formal wedding was being held.
The Lodge At Vail is just steps from the Vista Bahn chair, and the Vail Village pedestrian mall was right outside our door. No need to drive once you arrive. You can walk everywhere, whether you need to buy new ski clothes, get a lift ticket, eat a meal, or grab a Starbucks. It's also minutes from the bus line if you want to go even further, or spend your day at Beaver Creek.
The Lodge at Vail actually opened one month before the ski area did, which was back in December of 1962. It was built to replicate the time-honored Lodge at Sun Valley, and would soon become the cornerstone property of what would eventually become the Vail Village.
Now, after many renovations, this award-winning lodging property is world-class with luxurious rooms and fine dining. An addition is being built, known as the Front Door Project. It will also house the 7,725-square-foot Rock Resorts Spa as well as 13 luxury chalet residences. Plans were to have it finished in November, but now it probably won't be done until February.
If you are looking for convenience, Old World intimacy, and European charm, consider a stay at the Lodge at Vail for your next visit to the Vail Valley.
