The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain, and Best Terrain Park.

"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Global Managing Director Chad Dyer. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."

Here are just a few samples of what OTS visitors wrote about Sugarbush: "If you love glades, steeps, big vertical (for the east), variety, powder, and natural terrain and bumps, you will love this place. Sugarbush has a great variety and amount of terrain in a layout that, for the most part, is easy to navigate. The number and quality of trails is enough to keep one occupied for a couple of days."

Another wrote: "Sugarbush is my favorite mountain in the Northeast. Huge mountain, great terrain variety, fun new England-style trails. Sugarbush offers everything from well-groomed trails for skiers who want to cruise to classic eastern steeps, glades and natural terrain."

Sugarbush is located in Vermont's picturesque Mad River Valley off Route 100. It has long been popular for its combination of exceptional New England terrain and atmosphere. There are 484 acres of skiable terrain on two mountains, serviced by 16 lifts. Vertical is 2,600 feet.
