Weather Pummels Snowbowl
Arizona Snowbowl saw an unusual number of days with high winds in December. Four of those days recorded high winds that precluded lifts from opening on time. "Unfortunately, we cannot control the wind," says Dave Smith, Director of Marketing. "We have a partial solution to this continual problem included in our upgrade plan." The solution entails realigning and lengthening the Sunset lift.
The most recent storms have been more favorable, dropping well over 30 inches of snow in a storm cycle during the first week of January. But with a foot of snow overnight, it takes a bit to dig out all four lifts to get them running each day. The upside is powder. Skiers and riders are whooping it up in deep powder, and the forecast calls for more snow on its way.
