Still No Big Utah Snows
The only Utah resort to open so far has been Solitude and that was Friday (11/16) on a thin, manmade base which skiers report as "firm". Good on them for trying. Game day for most everyone usually occurs on or around Thanksgiving, but these unseasonably warm days and nights have hindered snowmaking and therefore, base building. So far, the ski areas still planning to open by Thanksgiving are Park City Mountain Resort, Brian Head, and Snowbasin. However, with Deer Valley's regularly scheduled opening the first weekend of December, it's not inconceivable that if we don't get snow soon, others may follow suit and wait until then for better snow to accumulate. As always, stay tuned to OnTheSnow.com for updates.
