Storms Open More Terrain In Rockies
3rd December 2007 | By Shannon Luthy
Resorts in this article: Aspen Snowmass, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Vail
Vail now has more than 1,000 acres of terrain with 67 trails and 15 lifts. Breckenridge plans to open Peak Eight by the Dec. 8 weekend. North Peak and a second terrain park rail yard at Keystone also will be ready for skiers and snowboarders by the Dec. 8 weekend.
Unfortunately, all of the new snow at Beaver Creek (over 15 inches) resulted in postponing the World Cup races.
Aspen and Snowmass topped out at 30 inches.
The storm brought 16 inches of new snow in just a couple of days to Copper Mountain. Six lifts and 13 trails are available, along with the first superpipe open in North America. The Super Bee chair also is open. More snow in the forecast means more terrain will be available, as conditions allow.
