[R469R, Timber Ridge] opened in 1961, nearly 50 years ago. It celebrates a half-century next season and over the years has acquired a loyal following of skiers. Known for its weekly adult race leagues, the area attracts skiers from as far away as Chicago and Indianapolis that come to compete.

They offer a number of weekly seasonal specials to help keep skiing and riding affordable for regional residents.

Monday is Men's Day when men get a $14 lift ticket and $14 rental equipment, if purchased before 4 p.m. Wednesday is Two-for-One. Purchase two lift and rental packages for the price of one between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Thursday is Women's Day when they get the same deal as the men on Monday, and Friday is Be An Angel Day. You receive $1 off a lift ticket for every can of food you bring to the community food pantry; $5 maximum. No outdated food is acceptable.

Monday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. college students with ID get $14 lift tickets and $14 rentals.

Every Sunday, beginning Jan. 2, is Family Learn To Ski & Snowboard time. from 4 to 8 p.m. Skiing is $30 and snowboarding $33 with beginner lessons beginning promptly at 5 p.m.

Timber Ridge, between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in western Michigan, offers 15 runs, eight lifts, two terrain parks, and tubing. The Ridge's terrain parks, which were featured in Warren Miller's film Dynasty last season, are designed and maintained by Luke Schrab. He and his brother Adam have been featured in four Miller films.  Adult regular season lift tickets run between $20 and $37. Junior (8-11) lift tickets are $15 to $24.
