[R249R, Mt. Abram Resort] is launching Le Club de Sport LaVallee/Parisien, a race program to promote high school and middle school ski racing.

The resort intends to supplement and support the athlete's home program, high school/middle school coaches, and training needs.

Mr. Abram's Club de Sport plans to do this by providing world-class coaching, a 40-day program that includes training over Christmas break, low racer-to-coach ratio, extensive video analysis, and logical progression of skills development.

Three-time Olympian Julie Parisien is joining the Mt Abram team for the 2010-11 season, and head coach Tim LaVallee will be returning to the mountain to work his former student on the race development program.

These two native Mainers are bringing to their task a wide knowledge of competition and coaching at the world's most elite levels of the sport.

Parisien skied on the World Cup Alpine circuit, in the Olympics, and on the Women's Pro Ski Tour. LaVallee is a former racer with the Plymouth State University ski team, and has enjoyed a distinguished coaching career in ski racing.

Mark Thibodeau, program director with Le Club de Sport, said, "In addition to our top level coaching staff, Mt Abram has one of the best training facilities in the country and a management that is fully supportive of racing on its slopes."

LaVallee called Mt. Abram an ideal training facility.

"Superb snowmaking capacity with the addition of 60 new HKD tower guns to our snowmaking fleet, 28 dedicated for the race hill, outstanding training and racing terrain and a lighted training and race hill make Mt Abram the ideal place for development of young ski talent," he said.

The Mt Abram Le Club de Sport LaVallee/Parisien will begin the first day of training at Mt Abram this year on Dec. 4.  Cost of the program is $799, which includes a season ski pass valued at $429.
