Andorra's two ski resorts, GrandValira and Vall Nord, both have the world's highest environmental management award, the ISO 14001 certification, making it the first country to be able to clim all its ski resorts have the highest international environmental standard grading. Less than a dozen other lift companies around the world have the certification, including two in the USA – Aspen and Jackson Hole; Sun Peaks in Canada, Les Menuires in France and The Arlberg Lift Company in Austria.
The ISO 14001 certification is an exacting process of measuring performance in all aspects of environmental management. It is a standard that is applicable to all businesses and is valid worldwide.
