Perisher Blue Spends Big On Snowmaking
Perisher Blue's 1245 hectares of terrain over seven mountain peaks has welcomed a state of the art snowmaking upgrade this winter. A new sustainable water supply with upgraded pump station have been added alongside 34 new automated snow guns, bringing the resorts total snowgun count to 188. In total 3.5 hectares of new snowmaking has been added.
By 2009 snowmaking will be automated on the remainder of Perisher Blue's popular Front Valley ski area and will expand into Happy Valley and Towers Run as well. With sub zero temperatures allowing for snowmaking ahead of schedule, Perisher Blue will have Mitch's T Bar working overtime this opening weekend.
Perisher Blue's terrain parks stand to benefit from earlier snow making with a further $10,000 invested in new terrain park features with an S Box, able box, battleship box and 8m round bar rail plus a new 12m down flat down rail to complement the 40ft Rainbow Rail and popular Ride Wall.
All looks good for Burton's Australian Snowboard Championships in the Superpipe for early September.
Please stay tuned in the coming weeks for the latest snow reports and news at Australian ski resorts.
