[R223R, Mad River Mountain], located near Zanesville, Ohio, is living proof that you don't have to be a large snow sports resort located in a mountain state to excel in terrain parks.  It's pro-snowboarder Louie Vito's home hill, where he first began boarding and still returns annually to host a charity event in December.

Mad River's Capital Park, which had its inaugural season last winter, was named Best Terrain Park in the Midwest in the OnTheSnow.com Visitors Awards.  Rails are in the shop getting hit with grinders instead of riders as the crews are busy getting the park ready for its second season.

"Capital Park has so many features that it takes our park crew just about the whole summer to grind and paint the inventory," says General Manager Josh Faber.  "It was nice to be recognized by our customers with the coveted award."

The crews have also been busy this summer completing the new Customer Care Center and new ticket windows.  The Loft Deck is being doubled in size and will be ready for the winter season.  It will be a great spot to view the slopes, the park and watch the many on-hill events held throughout the winter.

The Mad River Mountain Unlimited Pass, their lowest priced pass option with no blackout dates, is now on sale for $269.  However, you do need to go to the lift ticket counter each visit to receive a ticket.  The pass is $179 for juniors (12-7) and seniors (65+).  Prices will be going up after Nov. 7.  A Platinum Pass, which doesn't require you to wait in a lift ticket line, is $430.  It also provides $50 in Bonus Mad Money, four transferable group lessons, two Avalanche tubing tickets; your second pass is 15-percent off and additional passes are 30-percent off.
