On-Mountain Crash Sends Stein To Hospital
Stein Ericksen Deer Valley's Director of Skiing and 1952 Olympic ski champ was rushed to the hospital with a fractured wrist, ribs and collar bone, one day after his 80th birthday. Though Stein's Family and Deer Valley are hush hush on the details, eyewitness accounts say the kid "popped out of the trees" and Eriksen, as the uphill skier, was "moving way too fast" to avoid him. No fault is being blamed on either party. The boy was from out of town and only suffered a few scrapes and bruises. Eriksen may be off the ski slopes for the rest of the season.
