Mt. Baker received almost perfect scores in the downhill terrain category. The ratings were based primarily on readers' average ranking, number of reviews, and specific comments made in OnTheSnow.com over the winter season.
"More and more skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices," said Mountain News President and Publisher Rob Brown, whose company publishes OnTheSnow.com. "We believe the importance of reader advisories will continue to grow each year and these annual awards provide a peek into their thinking."
Reviewers were clear in their comments: "Mt. Baker is my home mountain and it is tight. I love the steeps and the terrain… Have always had the best time at Baker… It has a great family atmosphere - have taken my kids here for all their skiing… The staff is great with kids, the ski school instructors are very patient, and the snow is deep… I've been heading to Baker for three years now, and have yet to be disappointed."
Mt. Baker has an average snowfall of 647 inches and a vertical rise of 1,500 feet. There are eight chairlifts and seven of them are quads.
