Mountain Tropics
The warm weather can only add to the Tropical atmosphere which envelopes the mountain during the family oriented event. Growing every year, the Snowy Luau has turned into one of the largest festivals in the region.
This year's festival will feature authentic Hawaiian music, Polynesian dancers, a pig roast and a huge bon fire. Downhill races will offer prizes not only for the fastest, but also to the best and most unique costumes.
Saturday night, Herz Mountain will have all the trappings of a real volcanic eruption (minus the deadly pyroclastic flow) with a fireworks display at the summit and a lava-like torch light parade flowing down to the base.
Afterwards, Hawaiian music continues until Macho Willie takes the stage serenading the crowd with rhythm and blues music till 2 a.m.
Also on Saturday, Timberline holds the Rail Jam Competition Series Finals. The event is open to skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers.
