Numbers are better than expected, according to the 26 member resorts of Colorado Ski Country USA. Over 5.5 million skiers and boarders took to the slopes in Colorado in January and February. That's 6.7 percent more than the same time last year. The state is very close to last year's record-setting pace. The locals are amazed, and are loving it. Lunch breaks have been fast and furious on the slopes. CSCUSA says it's the international visitors who are pushing up the numbers, as it is an attractive and affordable vacation spot. But the snowstorms have definitely helped with record snowfall and many resorts extended their ski seasons. There's a lot of winter left, with March typically the snowiest month in Colorado. Colorado resorts now are in the midst of spring break season. Regional airports, like at Aspen, Eagle, and Steamboat, are very busy. Families and college kids across the country are packing up the car, and loading up the skis, to either fly or drive to Colorado's resorts, and to enjoy the epic season of snow. Bring plenty of sunscreen as the skies are blue and the snow is deep. You'll love it.
