The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain and Best Terrain Park.

"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Corp. President and Publisher Rob Brown. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."

Here is a few sample of what OTS visitors wrote about Breckenridge: "Lot's of steep terrain. Good variety. It's fun to ski into town. Great restaurants on the mountain and in town. Skiing at 12,500 feet. Can make it a challenge to breathe."

Breckenridge has a vertical rise of 3,398 feet and 28 lifts including two high-speed six SuperChairs and seven high-speed quads. The longest trail - Four O'Clock - is 3.5 miles. All that terrain, professional grooming, and down-home atmosphere make it easy to see why this area is such a favorite. An eight-passenger gondola links the town, with its wide variety of lodging, dining, and nightlife to the mountain.
